| 30 mph winds + flappy jean skirt = not a good work-walking situation. Just thought I'd share. | | |
| I just finished a post on mi otro blog: www.buffina.blogspot.com It's a little lengthy, so I didn't feel like re-typing it here. So read it if you wish; if not, go pluck a chicken or whatever your plans for the day were. Okay, so that sounded mean. I didn't intend it that way. It did, however, remind me of one of my favorite lines in one of Janet Evanovich's bounty hunter books, the one where Stephanie is working at Cluck-in-a-Bucket. I would love to work at a fast food joint named Cluck-in-a-Bucket, just so I could yell that at my customers, too. But anyway. I digress. I was not intending to make this a regular post. And it's random enough not to be a regular one, but it is turning out to be longer than I planned. That seems to be a theme today. I need to go find something to partake of for dinner.... wish me luck. I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly how to close this post. Oh well. Here goes. Bye, y'all. | | |
| So apparently I've been on a xanga hiatus... but I'm back again. Don't you feel special?? Things I've learned in the last two months: ♦ I love living in the country again. ♦ Working more than 65 hours in a 5 days generally isn't fun. ♦ After 10pm on a Friday night, your coworkers get cynical and slightly giddy. ♦ The correct direction to walk from Ogilvie Station to get to Michigan Avenue/Lakeshore Drive. ♦ Just because you move 7 hours away from home doesn't mean you won't suddenly have every single weekend busy with random people (hint: NOT a bad thing) ♦ Flooding isn't fun. ♦ Sump pumps are cool. ♦ All the things you can do with peg-board walls in your kitchen. (Okay, so maybe not ALL of them... and I haven't tried them all, but I've definitely come up with some crazy-fun ideas) ♦ Three words: Bananas con huevo. ♦ Boxes don't unpack themselves. ♦ The Cubs clinched. ♦ "Cubs suck". ♦ How to fix the strainer/screen thingey in the hose for the cold water in a washing machine. ♦ Eating out with your coworkers every day does not exemplify a lifestyle which lends itself to not gaining weight and turning into an elephant. Or at least a small rhino. ♦ Oppossums have scary teeth. ♦ Your boss typically doesn't like it when you call him high-maintenance. Even if it's true. ♦ Your coworker also calling your boss high-maintenance takes the pressure off you. ♦ Everyone calling your boss high-maintenance makes him cranky. ♦ Georgio's has the best pizza in McHenry County. (so far...) ♦ The I-Pass is a wonderful thing. ♦ I miss the library. And crazily enough, the gym. ♦ I can be much more assertive than I used to think I could. ♦ I hate being new at something and making stupid mistakes. (Okay, I already knew that, but it's been reinforced lately) ♦ There are some very random sounds coming from outside my house. ♦ "We got us a Pippi virgin!" ♦ I miss the strangest things about Kentucky. I miss a lot of the normal things... But some really random ones, too. And I miss things from *back home* more now than I did when I lived in Lexington. How weird is that? ♦ I'm glad I was born into a family where the timing of family gatherings didn't have to be based on the likelihood of the rest of the family being hung over. ♦ More baseball terminology than I ever cared to know. That's about it. At least what I can think of at the moment. You missed me, huh?! | | |

I'm excited :) Now I don't have to worry about what to do when it rains and my box gets wet. Okay. Back to work crazy-business now. | | |
